The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service has prolonged the deadline for placement applications.
In an announcement made on Sunday, Mercy Wahome, the CEO of the Service, explained that the extension was necessary to ensure that all eligible students have the opportunity to apply.
“The deadline for applications, initially set for February 26, 2024, has been extended until KUCCPS confirms that all intended applicants have completed their submissions,” a section of the statement reads.
Wahome reminded users of the portal that all applicants are considered first-time applicants since KUCCPS halted applications at the school level.
She highlighted that the validation process for payment of placement services now takes longer due to the transition of government services to the eCitizen platform, cautioning applicants against making duplicate payments.
Wahome assured applicants that the processing of placement applications will commence once KUCCPS verifies that all candidates have finalized their course selections according to the targeted student numbers.
“Thus, no applicant will be disadvantaged based on the timing of their submission,” she reassured.
Following the initial placement exercise, two revision opportunities will be provided for students who may have missed the initial application or not secured their desired courses.
Wahome emphasized the collaboration between the placement service and relevant government stakeholders to ensure all applicants have the chance to submit their preferences, reflecting the state’s commitment to inclusivity in education.
KUCCPS initiated the application portal for university and college placements on February 7, marking the second extension of the application deadline to prevent any candidates from being excluded.
The first extension was announced on February 16, pushing the original deadline further.
Wahome noted a higher number of applicants selecting degree programs compared to those opting for TVET courses and encouraged candidates with mean grades between C and E to explore TVET opportunities.
For those needing assistance with the application process, support centers are available, listed on the KUCCPS website www.kuccps.ac.ke.
