Equity bank, through its Asset finance solution, has financed the purchase of Onjiko High School’s 67-seater bus. Equity’s Asset Finance solution offers convenient access to affordable financing to customers, offering them opportunities to purchase business and personal assets such as motor vehicles, machinery and equipment. The flagging off of the bus took place at Equity Centre, Nairobi.
While flagging off the bus at Equity Centre, Equity Bank Kenya Managing Director Gerald Warui said, “It’s
been two years since our partnership with Onjiko High School began. This bus is more than just for transport use; it’s an inspiration for academic excellence. We believe that inspired students perform better academically, and those actively involved in sports will have the means to pursue and enhance their endeavors. Our commitment to supporting education aims to propel the education sector to greater heights. There are many products that we avail to the schools; we finance teaching and non-teaching staff, offer clean energy products, among others that go a long way in terms of cost management and protecting the environment.”
Speaking at the flagging off, the Chairman of Board of Management Onjiko High School, Dr. James Obondi said “This partnership has significantly elevated our school’s activities. It serves as a source of motivation, not only for our students but for the entire Onjiko school family. Beyond this partnership, the Equity Group Foundation through its Wings to Fly program has been able to assist financially challenged students, ensuring they stay enrolled and engaged. I would like to encourage other schools to adopt a similar approach, as this partnership has the potential to benefit numerous learning institutions.”
The Principal of the school, Joseph Were further added “Once upon a time, Onjiko High School had a dream and we trusted that one time we shall have a partner to fulfill our dream, today we are so happy and delighted that Equity Bank came and fulfilled our dreams. The school bus is just one of the ways through which the school has been able to benefit from this partnership with Equity.”
Equity through its Clean Cooking initiative also finances and supports learning/education and health

So far 23.3 million trees have been planted.
In addition, Equity through its social impact arm, Equity Group Foundation is dedicated to supporting
economically disadvantaged yet academically gifted students through its Education and Leadership
Development pillar. The Wings to Fly and Elimu scholarship programs spearhead EGF’s mission, offering
these students access to secondary education while providing comprehensive mentorship and leadership
development. So far, the program has supported 55,583 beneficiaries through the secondary school
scholarships with 2,574 beneficiaries being supported within the refugee camps in Dadaab and Kakuma.
