Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has said the government should take care of all costs for the Competency-Based Curriculum.
In a statement on Thursday, the MP said that CBC is practical and it should be implemented but the costs should be on the government.
“The only changes that should be made on CBC is the government taking care of all the costs. Otherwise it’s very practical and should be implemented,” he said.
Some parents and have asked the government to halt the implementation of CBC as it is expensive for them to manage.
The government has vowed not to scrap off the curriculum but to review and reform the sector.
President William Ruto gazetted a 49-member team to address major issues on CBC.
The task force will submit recommendations in the basic education sector, on CBC and the higher education sub-sector.
The team is expected to elaborate on the conduct of key tenets in the curriculum.
It will submit a progress report every two months from September 29 and a final report by February 29.
Education CS Ezekiel Machogu said the will ensure that the cost of basic education is affordable.
